VSA arts presents Derivative Composition

An International Juried Exhibit for Artists with Disabilities

background

theme

VSA arts is seeking visual artists with disabilities whose work is inspired by the performing arts.

Do you have a series or body of work that draws inspiration from music, theater, or dance? Consider entries that appeal to the aesthetics of storytelling, grace, balance, class, timing, strength, rhythm, humor, costume, irony, beauty, ability, drama, and suspense. The performing arts imply a public performance — what happens when the work stands still or is captured by a television or computer screen?

who can apply

Open to artists (ages 18 and over) who are committed to their artistic progress and who have a physical, cognitive, or mental disability. Work entered must be completed after the onset of disability. A disability is defined as an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. For more information about disabilities that apply, please review VSA arts' Disability Awareness Guide, located under resources at www.vsarts.org

Applicants from a wide range of artistic practices, such as digital arts, installation, and time-based media, are encouraged to apply.
