Fifteen-year-old classical guitarist Nicki Lehrer is a first-class recording and performance artist who teams up with classical guitarist Christopher Dunn for some exceptional finger work.
Nicki Lehrer became known as the ôyoungest street musician in Washingtonö when she began playing classical guitar on the sidewalks of Georgetown at the age of seven. Initially Lehrer played at Borders Books as a guest musician when she was ten, and at eleven she performed her first solo concert. She has entertained at Government House in Annapolis, the French Embassy, and for the Washington Guitar Society.
Her first CD, ôThe Beltway Tour,ö was released when she was just twelve. A straight-A student at the Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, the talented fifteen-year oldÆs latest CD is called ôBeyond the Beltway,ö and consists of selections from her West Coast tour and a special concert she played at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park.
Guitarist Christopher Dunn holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory, and is currently pursuing his masterÆs degree. He has also studied with Manuel Barrueco, Sergio Assad, David Russell and John Holmquist.
As a solo recitalist, Dunn has performed throughout the Baltimore-Washington area, in such venues as the Department of State, Anderson House, Baltimore City Hall, Leakin Hall, Smith Theater, and the Arthur Friedheim Library in Baltimore. Dunn teaches privately, with a special emphasis on phrasing, technical development, sight reading, tone and improvisation.
