Angelo Sciulli is a freelance writer and nature photographer residing in Lancaster, South Carolina. His interests include North American natural history, endangered and rare species, and environmental issues.
A professional chemist, Sciulli earned a Master's degree in chemistry from Clemson in 1978. Formerly the director of chemical research for Springs Industries, he switched to full-time photography in 1997. A year after he changed professions, he was diagnosed with the degenerative nerve disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Much of his energy now goes into advocacy for ALS and for photographers who, like himself, have a passion for the great outdoors but are hampered by physical challenges.
His magnificent photography works have been included in such publications as MONTANA Magazine, Nature Photographer, Natural History, and SINRA, as well as numerous calendars and national park publications. His professional affiliations include charter membership in the North American Photographers Association (NANPA), the NANPA Environmental Subcommittee, Katawba Valley Land Trust, The South Carolina Artist Roster, and the South Carolina Native Plant Society.
