acrylic on canvas (32" x 24"), 1995Bernardo A. Bermúdez, a native of Caracas and VSA arts of Venezuela participant, is a self-taught painter. He started painting at an early age, and has always been fascinated by religious subjects. Bermúdez, a paraplegic since birth, is very well-known in Venezuela and has participated in several group and solo exhibits. This work, La Ascención de María, created in 1995, reflects his interest in religion, and clearly demonstrates his distinctive style.
