"I am a very positive person and I revel in my creativity, which is due to my disability. I believe that everything is possible and that there is a solution for everything. I also believe that my works are visual endorphines."Kathleen Flannigan was born with an obscure muscular disorder and prefers that her audience be aware of her disability and how it affects her artwork. She emphasizes that the spirit of her work is a vision that overcomes disabilities and physical handicaps. Flannigan was a studio artist in 1992 at the National Institute for Arts and Disabilities in Richmond, where her drawings were an outgrowth of the nurturing climate and creative spirit of the Institute.
