Born in Seattle, Washington,Zel Brook pursued classical training in ballet and violin. Upon moving to Oregon, Brook was chairman of the school board and a budget analyst for Oregon's Human Resource budget until a brain tumor and CREST syndrome ended her career. It was after the detection of her illness that Brook discovered her artistic talent. Brook graduated with a BFA degree from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. She uses photography, sculpture and painting to document her lifelong experiences with illness and disability. Brook's superb technical works have been displayed in nine one-woman shows including: "The Inkwell" in Corvallis, Oregon and at St. Mark's Cathedral of the Northwest in Seattle, Washington.
