Candace Bustillos' portraits come alive with the use of oil pastel and mixed surfaces. Bustillos, who has a mental disability, uses this perspective to observe and capture people and their facial features from a different point of view. Many of her subjects are patients from the outpatient clinic ADEPT where she received treatment. "As an artist, one can shape or change the beginning of a piece of artwork. You find a moment of inspiration and decide how to express it in a good piece." "Art keeps my sanity intact, feeding my inner senses and desires." |
