Lihua Lei
Solon, Maine

Lihua Lei's installation Easy Target was inspired by an old photograph by Walker Evans entitled Man on Crutches. She immediately identified with the person in the photograph after having contracted polio at four months old. Through glass and reflection, Lei initiates an intimate dialogue with the viewer to arrive at a deeper level of understanding disability.

"Through my art, I accept who I am and hope people will come to see that all those with disabilities are dimensional human beings."

"Art gave me a sense of real existence for my life."
