Scott Ligon uses the computer to document his life with Attention Deficit Disorder. Ligon's work has evolved from realism to an expressive figural style, and from traditional painting to digital art. His recent work references previous work and his disability as he looks back on his childhood with insight. Ligon has also created a half hour animated movie entitled Escape Velocity. The film explores the connection between ADD and creativity using his life in self-deprecating, humorous examples. "My discovery of digital art at about the same time as my diagnosis of ADD was transforming in that it echoed the way ADD people think. I can assemble random or seemingly unrelated bits of imagery and information and transform it into something whole." "Understanding the visual language lets me see the beauty and interrelatedness of all things. I am on a crusade to encourage creative thinkers to not allow themselves to be trivialized." |
