Taga Tazezo was born in Ethiopia and immigrated to Israel in 1990. His mother died when he was very young. Tazezo, who has a mental disability, does not talk much and expresses himself mainly through portraits. In the beginning his paintings were full of tiny forms that looked like snails. After exposure to different techniques, he gravitated to layers of textured paint applied with a concentrated rhythm. Tazezo's work often revisits past motifs with a fresh approach. "I paint with my heart." |
