Jonathan Wos reflects his experience living with osteogenisis imperfecta within his drawings and paintings. His earlier work incorporated abstract images drawn from fantasy. As he progressed, he included imagery from life. Wos creates a dialogue with the viewer, both to challenge the perspective and to create an understanding. "Living with my disability is synonymous with living as an artist. Embracing my disability has had a profound effect on my artwork. Without art my life would not be as fulfilling—adversely without my life as it is, my art would not have a soul." "As a young adult I began to understand myself, then the subconscious meaning behind my imagery transformed into conscious ideas within my work." |
