“Art has played a very big role in my life.
For a long time it was the only thing that I could do well. I
did not do very well in school. Art is the one thing that I was
always good at.”
David Beharry, who has attention deficit disorder, was encouraged
to pursue art last year by his high school art teacher. Under
his careful direction, David was able to master the use of acrylic,
graphite, colored pencils, charcoal, and ink. With a strong attention
to detail, he captures the essence of a scene as if documented
through the lens of a camera. He explains, “I get a lot
of motivation from all the details in a picture and trying to
capture those details on canvas. “ As for the subject, he
expresses “I have always loved Chinatown. It represents
where I would go if I were on a road trip.
