“There are times when I feel nervous, discouraged,
very bad inside, but drawing and painting have restored my feelings
of confidence, calmness, happiness, and courage to do what I can
do.”
Meredith Lamy is a student at the Enrichment Center in North
Carolina which empowers individuals with disabilities through
growth, dignity, and choices in the community. Meredith, who has
autism, has been an avid painter for four years. Through the Center,
she has explored a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic,
and ceramic. Within this playful scene, Meredith depicts a place
“to go when someone needs to get more gas, refreshments,
coffee, or discover what the state has to offer.” For her,
the most important part of the journey is the place where one
refuels and finds energy to get to the next place.
