“ My driving force is a storm of ideas feeding a fire inside that burns desire into works of art. ”
Victor Hsieh's abstract paintings formulate congenial relationships among delicate lines, vivid colors and rapid contours. Critic Ian Stewart proposes that "In every one of them Hsieh is divulged, but in the most auspicious he also leaves himself behind and allows the painting to pledge itself as a visual equivalent to natural phenomenon." Nature is the inspiration for his body of work, although none of the pictures portray any indication of a landscape. Rather, one begins to explore the forces of nature through his work. Stewart continues, "Hsieh's charismatic compositions are in equilibrium and appear to continue well beyond the stretcher's edges." Victor cites the arts as the place that gave interest to his studies, challenging him with alternative perspectives and acting as a coping mechanism for his Attention Deficit Disorder when working on many projects simultaneously. "Rendering for hours, I felt enthused about the possibilities which from that point on I knew were endless." He credits artist Larry Poons' painting class at the Art Students League of New York as having a major influence on his artistic development.
