We live in the present, we journey through the past.

Brandon Barriger, who has autism, started drawing age appropriate pictures at age 5, but his perspective was different. He could draw maps and had never been in a plane, and his drawings were carefully rendered with accomplished details and compositions. Barriger prefers black and white to color, using a mechanical pencil and paper. His drawings reference the early 1900s and convey both rural and industrial settings. “My drawing helps me relax and gives me confidence that I can do things on my own.” Barriger’s high school does offer art classes, but he hopes to attend college for his art someday.
