’Temporal Landscapes’ are a journey into the raw abyss of the human cognition. Existing sitelines of the knotted, burled wood canvas are the beginning topographies of the stream of consciousness pen and ink drawings that survey temporal lobe thought patterns – the destination of personal reflection.

Coralina Meyer’s landscapes highlight the continuous relationship between the destination and its inhabitant in an effort to express an inner cognitive struggle. Meyer created the series Temporal Landscapes during a time of recovery and introspection as a result of a traumatic brain injury. During the most challenging part of the rehabilitation process, she lost the creative spark and began to push the boundaries of her abilities. “A meditative process, the motions of drawing with pen and ink on wood allowed me to work out the stagnant turmoil of my interrupted thought patterns.” In the piece Folds two masses interact to reach an agreement on the horizon forming an endless, meditative landscape. Meyer graduated in 2005 with a BFA in architecture design from the Parsons School of Design in New York.
