In my artwork, the turtle (longevity/mankind) has a destination or a goal to reach. The lighthouse and water are symbols that help him.
Jarrett Inn
Jarrett Inn started drawing on the computer in elementary school using the basic paint or paintbrush programs in Windows. Since that time, he has advanced to software programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Discrete 3ds Max in order to generate illustrations and animations. The programs provide a platform for creative freedom for Inn, who has cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. “Art gave me a way to express myself without having to write a narrative.” Within this series, Inn uses the turtle to tell a story using symbolism. “After a long journey a turtle rests. He’s surrounded by the ocean with a lighthouse in the distance. The turtle (longevity/mankind) takes his time and prepares for another trip. The lighthouse (safety, hope, and refuge) shines brightly on the turtle and surrounding area. The water (life) provides nourishment.” Jarrett Inn is working on a certificate in computer graphics at Montgomery College in Germantown, Maryland.
