My artwork takes the viewer into my mind. My thoughts are dominated by notions of impending natural disasters, rapidly changing weather patterns, professional wrestling, Latino culture, and beautiful women.
Luis Estrada
Luis Estrada’s drawings infuse common motifs such as thunderclouds and vehicles with delicate but deliberate pencil marks that indicate specific dates and times. Estrada, who has developmental disabilities, is fascinated by the weather and is often preoccupied with imminent catastrophes. “The weather is very dangerous. I will tell you that there is going to be a big earthquake, so watch out because the room will shake and the building will sway. 100 degrees will be the temperature for seven more days.” Estrada attended Contra Costa College in San Francisco, and is currently a studio artist at the National Institute of Art and Disabilities in Richmond, California.
