These are abstract renderings which means that they are not constrained by conventional thought allowing a person to travel anywhere in their personal interpretation of the works.
Skyla Stuckey
Skyla Stuckey’s interest in art came early on; both of her parents are art teachers. Her preference is graphite and ink, although she experiments with a variety of media. Stuckey, who has a severe hearing impairment, conveys, “Art is a release for me, allowing me to cope with various situations.” Only recently has she begun to infuse disability as the subject in a series of work. She also studies the work of the masters such as Van Gogh during visits to museums. “I came to realize that in order to live a happy life I needed to major in a field of study specific to whatever caused me to be blissfully content—and that was art.” Stuckey is currently pursuing a degree in architecture at North Carolina State University.
