Lullaby (For Magda)
By Ekiwah Adler Beléndez

Death, come into my private chamber,
but do not come to me
with the blood of many on your dress.

Come with a crown of flowers,
frolic in the river;
laugh, be a little girl!

After playing hide-and-seek
long hours in the dark
Death, close your eyes,
let me watch you sleep.
