The Dog
By Christopher Fairbourn

I hear that stupid Chris’ alarm clock going off and it’s really annoying and it doesn’t even work. I don’t know why he uses it. It just keeps ringing and ringing and ringing and he never gets up. So, I run around upstairs to try to wake up Chris so he can take me outside to use the bathroom. That never works either. So, I go to the bathroom in his room on his carpet. That way he will learn to get up next time and take me outside.

After that, I go downstairs and I lay on LeGrand’s new chair. I’m not supposed to do that but it just amuses me to see LeGrand’s reaction when he sees me. Just then, LeGrand comes in and yells at me and tries to push me off the chair. Then LeGrand goes upstairs to wake up Chris and I follow him because I know that LeGrand will put me in Chris’ warm bed and tell me to lick Chris’ face. It makes Chris mad, so he throws me at LeGrand and I hit LeGrand and land on my feet really hard. Now I just want to bite Chris because it hurt me but instead I get in his bed to help keep him warm so he can keep on sleeping so he can get yelled at even more by his dad.

Lazy Chris finally gets out of bed and he goes downstairs and eats breakfast in his boxers. His parents tell him to get pants on and to quit being so lazy or he’ll be late for school. Chris is about to go to school and I’m wagging my tail because I know I will get to lie in his bed when he is gone.

When LeGrand takes Chris to school I run to the other room to look out of the window. I’m barking really loudly at him saying, “Good-bye. Have a nice day.“ Sometimes he waves at me so I know he hears me.

LeGrand comes back home and I get so happy I wet the carpet and then I growl at him. I always growl at my family so that they know I am happy to see them.

When LeGrand goes into his bathroom and showers, I wait for him to come out so I can lick the warm water off his legs. LeGrand pushes me away and tells me to stop. I guess it bugs him. I spend most of my day with LeGrand. I sit on the couch in his office and I look out the window. Whenever a dog goes by I bark at it to say, “Hi,“ but LeGrand tells me to shut up cause he’s usually talking to people on the phone.

When Chris comes home from school I’m really happy because he plays with me and gives me food and water. At night when he does his homework I come and sit next to him to keep him company. After he does his work it is time for us to go to bed. His mom and dad have to yell at him a few times, but finally he gets ready and we go to bed. I love sleeping in the bed with Chris.

Wow Chris! That was a very entertaining story! I love to imagine what my dog is thinking. I think you did a great job of "getting into your dog's head." Keep on writing!
