Tomoko Endo, pianist

Tomoko Endo is a 17-year-old pianist from Fairfax, Virginia, who is a senior at Robinson Secondary School. She began studying piano at the age of four in Japan and continued taking lessons in Thailand, Singapore, and the United States. Her current teacher is Lisa Emenheiser Sarratt, an adjunct pianist of the National Symphony Orchestra.
Tomoko has received numerous awards and recognitions for her piano performance. She placed first in the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association’s piano concerto competition and the Alexandria Performing Arts Association’s third annual youth music competition in Alexandria, Virginia. Tomoko is a member of the Friday Morning Music Club, a music appreciation organization in Washington, D.C., and was awarded first place during their annual competition.
She attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan where she received three fine arts awards for her performance on piano and was selected as a finalist in the Interlochen Arts Camp’s high school concerto competition.
Tomoko is an active chamber musician and participated in the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute concert in July of 2002. Recently, she performed a trio for piano, violin, and horn on the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage.
Ms. Endo will be attending the Royal College of Music in London beginning this September.
