Educators and Artists:
Student Achievement and Growth in the Inclusive Classroom
Dates: October 27-30, 2006
The notion of student achievement and growth is far from simple, and there are a variety of ideas about how best to improve student learning. In facing new standards and high stakes tests along with NCLB requirements, educators take on daily challenges in providing students with learning experiences that will not only assist students in meeting standards, but that will be engaging and provide students with the opportunity for personal growth. The diverse student needs in an inclusive classroom require flexibility and creativity in teachers’ approaches to meeting standards and encouraging growth.
The VSA arts Institute is a unique opportunity for educators, administrators, and service providers at all levels. Artists, teachers, academics and nonprofit leaders will come together to explore the best strategies for teaching in and through the arts in the inclusive classroom to maximize student achievement and growth.
