2006 Playwright Discovery Award Recipient Biography

Jonathan Mayer (Playwright), Jonathan Mayer, 18, is from Longwood, Florida and is currently a freshman at Harvard University. A writer of one-act plays, short films, and full-length screenplays, he began writing at the age of 14. While a student in high school, Mayer worked with the International Thespian Society and the Orlando Repertory Theatre as both an actor and director. His honors include being selected as a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a Stanford University QuestBridge Finalist. At the age of six, Mayer was diagnosed with acute asthma.
