Organizational Snapshot:

Very Special Arts Hellas is dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for creative expression and participation in cultural communities. In addition to leading various workshops, Very Special Arts Hellas also organizes exhibitions and arts festival. The affiliate promotes inclusion by encouraging artists without disabilities to broaden their scope of work by collaborating with their peers with disabilities. To assist this effort, Very Special Arts Hellas implements extensive training seminars for artists who work with people with disabilities. Since 1999, Very Special Arts Hellas has organized guided tours of cultural sites for people with disabilities. It is the first and only organization in Greece to offer audio descriptions of theatrical performances for people with visual impairment, and recently introduced a three-year program funded by the Ministry of Culture, "Art without Barriers," to improve access to cultural sites and programs.
